Mathruvedi Holds General Body Meeting: Focus on Motherhood and Family Psychology
Belthangady, October 2, 2025 - The Belthangady Diocesan Mathruvedi convened its General Body meeting on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, bringing together diocesan leadership and members to discuss the pivotal role of mothers in nurturing families and society.
Inauguration Stresses Mother's Role
The event was formally inaugurated by His Excellency Mar Lawrence Mukkuzhy, who lit the lamp. In his address, His Excellency lauded the efforts of the Mathruvedi, affirming the indispensable influence of mothers. He quoted Abraham Lincoln, stating, "I am and what I hope to be is because of my angel mother," and praised mothers for working hard "to keep the families bound together."
Forum President Smt. Mercy Kadassery presided over the meeting, where she encouraged members to emulate Mother Teresa's philosophy, urging them "To do small things with great love."
Workshop on Family Psychology
A major highlight of the meeting was an educational session on "How to handle the psychological aspects in the family," led by Dr. Soney Thomas Olickal, a clinical psychologist from Kannur. Dr. Olickal provided practical advice, urging mothers to possess a "motherly heart" but also to remain strong, asserting, "you are the master of your life."He motivated the attendees to excel in their work and "leave a mark."
Directives and Annual Reporting
Rev. Fr. Joby Thomas Pullattu, the Diocesan Mathruvedi Director, addressed the executives during the "Directors Hour," issuing key directives for the Forane and Parish levels. He stressed the necessity of conducting regular meetingsand maintaining detailed records of all parish activities.

Other Meeting Highlights
The meeting also included the distribution of prizes to the winners of the "Bible rewriting competition."
The proceedings of the day were introduced by Senate member Smt. Beena Joji and later presented by Vice President Smt. Supriya Poovathingal. Treasurer Ancy Kumbikkal managed the registration and refreshments, and Mrs. Shaiji Babu, a Senate member, extended the vote of thanks.
